Here you will find material for the 2nd year undergraduate research skills seminar groups. Please download the material before the class to your mac desktop. Week 2 - Reliability & Validity
Homework Score Distributions
I have plotted frequency distributions of the scores for each of my 3 groups. They are all relatively normally distributed, suggesting I am a fair marker! Click on your relevant group (individual scores are not shown):
Week 3 - Factor Analysis
There will be no worksheet for this weeks class. I will go through examples live on the demonstration screen. Below are the SPSS data files and questionnaires we will be working from, so please download these before class.

Week 4 - Qualitative & Quantitative Designs
Again this week there is no worksheet. However, we will be discussing the differences between qualitative & quantitative designs, and the relative advantages / disadvantages of both, so feel free to do some background reading around Jorien's lecture material so you have a deeper understanding of both approaches to psychological testing.
Week 5 - Qualitative Data Analysis
This week you will have an opportunity to apply Grounded Theory to analysing a qualitative in-depth interview transcript. It will be advantageous if you have done some background reading around Tuesday's lecture, so you are prepared to pull out relevant information from the transcript.
Week 6 - Qualitative Data Analysis (cont.)
There are no online materials for this week. We will be going through Homework 5 in class.
Week 7 - Reading week (no class)

Week 8 - Exploratory Data Analysis
You will need a scientific calculator for todays class. If you don't have one, there is one on the Mac desktop. We will be going through calculations of variance & standard deviations in class.
